Beware of dubious claims made on website

Kill Stutter
A dubious website!

This article is a warning to people who stutter, and an appeal to everybody to help stop a website that makes impossible claims regarding curing stuttering, and has attracted international attention. The website claims to sell a taperecording that will stop stuttering in under 10 minutes.

The cost is $53.92. By coincidence, to sue in small claims court in Ontario requires a fee of $60, and the owner probably counts on people not bothering to sue him when the "remedy" does not work.

The same person who runs this website also runs sites offering to kill your lisp, grow your penis, and cure other ailments! There is an injunction against him in the UK and a lawsuit filed against him there. The website is at www.killyourstutter.com.

According to Tom Weidig, author of the blog "the Stuttering Brain":

The most likely scenario is the following: [the owner] operating a series of websites that make fraudulent claims, among them KillYourStutter.com. He has recruited people world-wide to promote his products, and rewards them with a share of the revenue. These people are starting up websites and spreading the product across the web linking to their site which then links to KillYourStutter. The only effective way to fight this phenomena is to kill the KYS website...

Tom has launched a "Kill Kill Your Stutter.Com" Campaign. For more info, see his site The Stuttering Brain. For now, we are asking Canadians to appeal to the Advertising Standards Canada. There will be further calls to action later on this site.
