A new documentary about stuttering is in the works, with a focus on how finding the right speech therapist can change a person's life. It is a collaboration between Memorial University, The Newfoundland and Labrador Stuttering Association (NLSA), The NLSA Solidarity Collaborative Project and the podcast SOME STUTTER, LUH! The film will be included in an Open Education Resource (OER), an On-Line Education Program about Stuttering being developed by Dr. Paul De Decker, Associate Professor of Linguistics at MUN.
The producers are looking for people to be interviewed in the documentary to speak about the role of speech therapy in their lives. These zoom interviews will be short (about 15 minutes) and informal. One of the main therapists the documentary will focus on is Dr. Bob Kroll, who was the director of The Speech and Stuttering Institute.
